When has a topic expired?

When has a topic expired?

Postby woodnut » 06 Oct 2012, 13:58

I see some are 3 wks. old and zero response.
Some more than 30 days with no response.
How do we want our forums to look ?
Organized and active ?
Should the team request the author remove the dead topic ?
Or act with common guidelines ?
Lets hear your thoughts. :) :?:

Can or will they be archived? Because we don't want the same topic over and over again.

There is a log that records All editing on the forums. Is that what you mean ?
A topic might later be renewed if it will prompt good discussion.
A portion of a topic with important info. might be merged within another similar topic , for preserving the info.

If in topic after a couple of days no answers or topic has no point, delete it.

I agree with you there maybe say due to the different scheduling needs of the users of the forum after 1 weeks time if the thread is inactive then it shall be removed from the forums?

Should the rest of the mods and possibly sdac come to such an agreement on the terms the terms should be put up plainly for all to view that unless it is posted out of need and deemed to be needing to stay, that after 1 full week to consist of 7 days total if a topic is inactive with 0 responses the topic shall indeed be removed from the forums to allow there to be some symbol of organization.

I agree here mostly , but I wonder if the members would like to remove if asked. This would keep them feeling involved & making choices. If they ignore the request , then moderate it. Maybe add a warning, to keep some record of repeating in the logs.
If I posted a topic , and had no reply . I would remove it befor a week , myself. :)

1 week is plenty of time just inform user of this rule. I wouldn't waste my time asking the creator of the post to remove it, just go ahead and do what needs to be done

Also immediately remove posts that push sdac for principia release dates, I myself find some of these to be abusive and are not needed. As moderators are you able to make a new topic on the main page informing users not to post asking about principia release time and they will be notified by email when it has. I believe sdac is doing us a great service by developing this new game and needs not to be pushed. (hope I'm not to far off topic here :)

I should add above, a new topic that can't be posted on.
